GIVING NOTICE TO VACATE
Whether you are breaking, legally ending the lease or hold tenancy at will (TAW), you should give your landlord a minimum of 30 days ( usually one rental period) written notice on or before the start of the month you plan to vacate. Owners/ Agents appreciate as much notice as possible , along with your cooperation in letting them show the apartment to possible new renters. Usually, the easier you make the process of re-renting the apartment the easier it is for you to move out.

CLEANING THE APARTMENT
To avoid arguments and possible deductions from your security deposit, you should leave the apartment as clean as it was when you moved in. Plan on having all cleaning and the removal of your personal belongings done prior to your final move out date to avoid being charged any fees. Click on the link to the left to print our cleaning checklist to be sure you won't miss anything. You may want an inspection while you are there with the owner/agent present to sign off for return of security deposit.

Painting is usually not required unless you changed colors, or procured any damages during your tenancy. Ask for a letter of reference, take pictures of the apartments condition in the case of any future disputes.
