This checklist will help you keep track of everything you will need to have done to make your move a more orderly process.

• * Take pictures of your new apartment before you move in.
• * Make sure your landlord gives you an apartment condition statement.
• * Go through the apartment carefully, fill it out and make sure you both agree in writing as to the condition the apartment is in and what will and will not be further done to it. Indicate any present damage and/or aspects of the apartment which you feel should be made note of.
• * Take readings on your electric and gas meters if possible.
• * Check how much is in your oil tank if you have one.

• * Call utility companies to put individual meters in your name.
• * Notify the post office of your change of address and try to locate your old mailman while he is on route to notify him personally if you are expecting very important mail.
• * Introduce yourself to your new neighbors.
